hello there,
I’m Mary Kay Burke
I’m a Certified Nurse Midwife and Women’s Health Nurse Practitioner with a fellowship in Integrative Medicine from the Andrew Weil Center for Integrative Medicine at the University of Arizona. I’m also Adjunct faculty at St. Xavier University in Chicago teaching women’s health in the graduate program. I used to always hear my patients say, “There are no integrative women’s health providers on the Southside of Chicago, you have to go downtown or the North side for that kind of care.” They weren’t wrong, until now…and I’m very excited to bring these services closer to home. Integrative women’s health is whole woman care that weaves together the very best of conventional treatments with mind-body interventions, nutritional strategies, herbal therapies, dietary supplements, acupuncture, and manual medicine, providing clinicians with a roadmap for practicing comprehensive integrative care.
Modern healthcare is incredibly disappointing on so many levels. It lacks quality and committed providers, it’s quick visits with minimal conversation, it’s sick care, not health care. If you’re looking for real solutions to maintain good health or get to the root of your health concerns, you’ve come to the right place. Now, almost every women’s health issue has a natural approach option, we just have to find it! It’s up to you to decide what is best for you and my role is more of a guide, for any issue at hand, there will be a traditional approach or an integrative approach in treating. And, I’m happy to work together to find solutions!
Women should feel good. Women should feel heard. We have come to accept feeling frazzled, exhausted, anxious…and more. When we are working too hard, too stressed, emotional eating, poor sleep, and an unhealthy lifestyle..we need help! We need transformation with new tools, and we need to do more to feel better, we need a women’s health revolution! Ok, maybe a personal one if necessary but we need change. Did I mention I’m passionate about women’s health? And menopause care… and our young girls feeling good about their bodies and understanding how their cycles work, minus the shame that all too often is included.
One very important subject has really stood out over the past few months for me, and that is the importance of community. It is so easy to slip into isolation, but community has become crucial for our well-being. Community keeps us engaged but also inspires us, it catapults us into personal growth, it helps us be honest and raw, it helps us look through a much wider lens and grow outside of ourselves, it helps us be better humans to one another.
Community =vulnerability=the path to wellbeing.
I’m here to say you are amazing, you are ENOUGH. And, I’m here if you need me. We offer many traditional women’s health services and in addition, integrative women’s health support. If you want to schedule 90 minutes with me to review all the important aspects of your life: physical, emotional, mental health, spiritual, and nutritional, and report back to you with an integrative plan for better health, schedule an integrative consultation. If you’ve tried every diet known to man and have lost all hope, how about joining me for the Avery Reset & Reboot?
Women’s health is my passion. Finding natural, healthy ways to improve women’s health issues, is our challenge. But, a little extra work trying to find the root cause of an issue, is priceless! And worth it! If this resonates with you, make an appointment. I look forward to meeting you in the new Evergreen Park office or jump on a telehealth visit call and we can meet online. Let’s do this!
